My thoughts on foreign perceptions of Americans. My advisor once told me "A person who speaks three languages is a tri-linguist. A person who speaks two languages is a bi-linguist. A person who speaks one language is an American." -P. Wolfe, Allegheny College
I think this mostly sums up what the general perception of Americans is according to foreigners. In my opinion, the most important thing to keep in mind when traveling to a foreign country as an American is to keep an open mind. Keeping an open mind will allow me as a foreigner to better adapt to my surroundings and the people around me.
